289 FORD IN A SAMMI

HOWDY,
I WAS OVER AT MY GRANDFATHER'S WHEN HE ASKED ME TO TAKE A 289 FORD WITH TRANS OFF HIS HANDS. I KNOW THAT SOME POEPLE OUT THERE HAVE PUT 283 CHEVY'S IN THERE SAMMI BUT HAS ANYONE HERE OF THE 289 FORD IN A SAMMI. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS. AND IF I DO THIS WHAT KIND OF AXLE DO YOU THINK I SHOULD GO WITH. I HAVE A OLD FORD RANGER ( THE SMALL ONE) SIT BACK IN THE WOODS. DO YOU THINK THE FRONT AND REAR WOULD BE NICE TO SIT UNDER THE SAMMI. IT MITE LOOK NEAT IF I NARROW THEM.

Doesn't the Ford Ranger have IFS? And why would you shorten an axle for the Samurai? Keep 'em long.

is the ranger 4wd your using? or just the rear diff in the zuk? if it were me, unless it were a 4wd ranger, i would prolly look for some *eep axles or yota axles for it. 289 will razze cain with the stock zuk axles.

tim porter from IZOOK is the man you need to talk to! He has a zuk with a 289 d60 front d70 rear 44 boggers and calls it bigger bogerai! I do not know his E-Mail or anything but I do know he runs that set-up and it looks sweet!!

Re: 289 FORD IN A SAMMI

howdy,
the ranger had ifs, but before it rolled I had put a front axle out of a 80 yota in it. the frame is bent to h-ll and the engine still runs. i stoled the rims and tires to put on the sammi.

Re: 289 FORD IN A SAMMI

The Ford 289 is an awesome engine. They have great throttle response and low end torque. In my opinion there is no better small block engine. Anway, I would agree w/ BB -- anything less that some Dana axles will never survive.

Any idea where the 289 came from (out of a mustang)? Does it have a 2 bbl or 4 bbl intake?

I'll be back.

Re: 289 FORD IN A SAMMI

howdy,
the 289 came out of an old falcon, it has a plain jane 2bbl. I have already put 302 heads on her. the block had to be milled and the bored 20 over. she runs with just two wires, one to starter and one to coil.
