I've done it. Not hard at all if you have a cut-off wheel on a die grinder and a welder.

Re: Sidekick seats in a Sami...
I've just done mine a week or so ago....used front seats off of the late 90's two door Pontiac Sunfire. Good seats IMHO and the fitting was a breeze. The pass. one required drilling only two holes. On the driver side I had to rip off the "shelves" that the OEM seat was bolted onto (why did Suzuki put them in to begin with???) and drill four new holes.

I like this setup very much so far (no more broken springs poking my a*s), it slides fwd and aft, reclines and folds down as prescribed, hehehehe

It took me maybeeee three hours (and four Molsons :-) to have all this done.

Hope it helps

Re: Sidekick seats in a Sami...
hows the support of the sunfire seats? how much did they cost and if'n ya had to do it again would you choose another kind?

Drive fast and take chances.

Re: Sidekick seats in a Sami...
The shelf thing you speak of under the drivers seat is to keep junk from rolling under the drivers feet and not stuck in the pedals causing a wreck or something. We all know how these things just jump up when parked in the driveway and turn over. If anyone is interested and will be at the melt, I have tracker LSi seats in my truck, come look me up on the hill under the big white canopy (if K Smart hasn't sold the damn thing)!

Re: Sidekick seats in a Sami...
I used GEO Storm seats myself.Cut off the welded on seat tracks and drilled a couple of holes to mount to the sami seat tracks.2 hours in the shop and about 2 more hours at the junk yard looking and checking before I bought them. The seat rails are in the same place and the colors match.

Re: Sidekick seats in a Sami...
i used the Summit racing seats with a little extra padding inthe seat, and all it took was four pieces of 1" channel and a couple of steel plates. the really hug your butt when your bouncing around and did it all for under $150.00 and 3 hours time.

the harder i try to be gooder the worser i get

Re: Sidekick seats in a Sami...
I put tracker seats in my '86. I cut the entire front support down to the tubular frame, and cut the rear supports down to one inch. Welded 2" square box for the front support and 1" X 2" box for the rear. I have another set of seats for my '88 - this time I'm going to cut down as before, but use 1" X 2" box in front, and flat stock in back (I wanted to raise my '86 sets by one inch, but I think I raised them 2" - a little too much, but now my wife can see over the hood). I used a ripped up sammy seat frame as a template to position mounting holes for the sammy sliding tracks (much simpler than the tracker/kick). Unless you mount your tracks pretty far forward, you will find the new seats too close to the dash. The passenger seat was especially cramped, but I found under the carpet another set of mounting holes further back. This works fine for me, because I removed my rear seat long ago. If you want to get in and out of the back seat, it will be a problem. If you want more info, email me as my mistakes are still pretty fresh in my mind. I may be able to send you some pix.
