pPillard\'s Progress Report...

Well, I've had this entire week off and I have spent 90% of it upgradin' my zook (much to my poor wife's chagrin). Last Sunday, I met up with Mike Shannon, and he was kind enough to help me install my lock-right in the front along with my Breeze birfield rings. He has access to a press and the whole install went like a dream. Next, I spent the first three days of the week building and installing my rollcage. I bent all the pipe at my place, and went over to billtooley's, who was kind enough to give me access to a full welding shop where I stuck everything together. I had never built a cage before and it was a major PITA!! I'll get you guys some pics of it later, as it's kind of an original design. Thursday, my calmini rockcrawler t-case gears showed up (UPS finally got their thumb out of their a$$), but my wife got back in town that evening, so I held off their install until Friday, which found me again at Mike Shannon's (this time with BuckO7), who was more than happy to guide me through the install (thank God for his press again). Then, today, I went back over to Mike's, and we welded up my rearend (and welded it up damn good, I have to say. Mike can run a beautiful, deep bead!). So, after that, we ran to some local trails for the first true test of my now fully locked and low-geared zook. MAN, WHAT A DIFERENCE!!! Geared down to a nice torquey speed with all four tires biting at the same time! I was unstoppable! And for the first time ever, I never smelled my clutch!
I have to say THANKS to billtooley, Mike Shannon, and Buck. Without these guys, there is no way I would've been able to pull off these upgrades this week. These guys represent the perfect example of our community here; sharing, eager to help, and just downright fun to hang out with! Muchas gracias to you guys, I can't wait to see you on the Barnwell run!

How well does it turn the 33's with just the 4:1 t-case?

Turns 'em like they were the stock tires! I can't believe the difference. Like I said before, I never once smelled clutch!

Re: pPillard\'s Progress Report...

Ya know, that's no joke! She was cool with it all until I had to do that last bit of work on it Saturday. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. But she loves to wheel, and she's gonna freak the next time we hit the trails! And to my wife: Thank you, sweetheart! I appreciate your patience, and I'm sorry it always takes ten times longer than I said it would.
