Saturday in Alaska

Hi all,
It's a beautiful day here in Alaska. It has rained for the last week but today the sun is out and the temp is up in the high 70's already. I can still see snow on the tops of the higher mountians at least those areas that mostly in the shade all day. Me and my son have already caught and processed some halibut from a charter last month out of Seward and have processed the King and Red salmon that I dip netted out of the Copper River. So with that out of the way it is time to work on the Suzuki again. I was looking at the water pump and noticed a hole in the housing that you can see just to the right of the dip stick. Is it just to equalize pressure or is there something that is supposed to be attached?
Thanks in advance and I hope everyone is having as beautiful day as it is here.

Re: Saturday in Alaska

Glen, that hole is a tattle tale for when the water pump seal fails. It allows a small trickle of coolant to escape and not knock out the pump bearing. If the bearing was allowed to completely fail it is possible and even likely that the fan would damage the radiator. papa

Re: Saturday in Alaska

High 70's, well I know you aren't in Fairbanks, like me. 50 degrees here and cloudy, but I'm still goin' wheelin' tomorrow with a few buddies of mine (stock YJ, 93 Yota Locked F/R w/ 33 MTRs, and a stock Taco). Have a nice day all, and remember, at least you can enjoy nice warm summer nights (with darkness). If anyone doesn't know the skinny on the non-stop daylight thing up here, I'll take a pic tonight at 3 am with the digital camera....
