Starter Noise

After putting the tranny back in I now have starter noise. I'm running a 1.6 and have not run into this problem previously when seperating the engine tranny. The engine turns slower than normal and the starter sounds terrible. Like it's too close the the flywheel. Any input would be dearly appreciated. Headed back out to the garage. TIA

Re: Starter Noise

At loss here on what problem is...

I would begin by removing starter inspect and test starter
by bump starting make sure bendix is ok and starter motor
is ok then go from there, pull plugs hand turn engine feel
or view flywheel. I'm brain dead from 8051 programming
sorry just not with it today.

Re: Starter Noise

hey man, im assuming your talkin about the horrible whine that sounds like you got a $500 high torque starter in there right??? mine does the same thing. get plenty of stares when i start it in town. plus a 2 inch exhaust that ends under my floor. man, they look. it didnt do it before. im sure it is just the starter meshing to tight on the flywheel. just loosen the bolts n retighten them. should fix it. i havent done it cause im too lazy n got toooo many other things to get done first.

Re: Starter Noise

I had this problem when I first changed over to the 1.6 -- loosening the starter as mentioned and pulling away from the flywheel and retightening should take care it.

I'll be back.

Re: Starter Noise

Thanks guys, Crow Horse already set me straight on the problem. Believe me, all of your input was/is greatly appreciated. Got enough problems getting ready for the Melt without having any unneccesary bug-a-boos cropping up. Take care all.
