cruiser axle upgrade question

o.k. guys, i scored today. i bought a set of landcruiser axles for $200 bucks. WOW!!! anyway, i want to change a few things befre i swap em. convert the front to disc brakes, and convert the rear dual wheel cylinder brakes to single. (possibly k-5 blazer stuff). any ideas for either one would help. also, anyone around dfw that can weld the rear fer me?

87 sammy project in the works. getting chevy luv motor/ato tranny this week. lots o mods coming soon. i'll pst pics on em.

Re: cruiser axle upgrade question

I think the Fj40 had disc brakes in the front starting around 76, so if you can find a front axle from a 76
or newer FJ your all set with the disc brakes. The blazer swap for the rear sounds like a good idea.

Re: cruiser axle upgrade question

my big bro is a "land cruiser god", but my zuk seems to run a lot more often. hes got 6 or more, but never running. sumtin to be said for zuks huh? anyways, think disks were 78 n later, you can do a rear disk conversion if you want, usin chevy calipers n rotors. dont remember on exact required pieces. also on the front, dont remember the specifics (will ask bro) but you can swap the front of a drum brake cruiser axle to disk using yota pick up components.
hope to talk to him today, will let ya know.

Re: cruiser axle upgrade question

I wish I could of put cruiser axles on my Zuk! I have Toyota axles under my project rig now! They are sweet! Can't wait to get the engine in and suspension set up right! Don't know much about them, but I'm sure you can find out some info on the toytoa bbs. They helped me out with a lot of web-pages about toyota axles, how to beef them up, disc brakes in the rear, and a few other things! I'll see if I still have the web-pages, but don't think they will hepl ya out since you have Cruiser axles?
