Needed: Optima battery info.

Hello. I am considering buying a yellow top Optima, and just wondered how good they fit on the stock battery tray, and where you guys have found the best deals on them? It seems the yellow top would be best for winching and offroad use, right?

Re: Needed: Optima battery info.

Well I have the Exide Battery that is like the optima,
(Their version anyway) It fits right in the tray, works great and cost $102.00 at NAPA. Quicker starts than a regular battery and what winching I have done so far with it no problems.

Re: Needed: Optima battery info.

how exactly is an optima battery different than a regular battery? i think its dry cell, but what does that mean?

and why is it better?

thanks

I have a Red top and it fits in there good.
They are a dry cell type ie NO water, zero maint. and you can mount them in any direction, even up side down.

I have the Red Top too....I was going to get the Yellow one, but the guy said the red one is better...for some reason he told me why, but I forget why...

anyway, it fits well and runs my winch and everything else just fine.

Re: Needed: Optima battery info.

I've run the red tops in various rigs. They're great. Buy mine at a battery store that sells blems. I asked them what was ment by blem? It is cosmetic only and carries the same electrical performance warranty. Cost about $70.00. One side note. I've been told by 2 battery shops they are not intended to be used as RV batteries.

optimat battery owners - what alts do ya\'ll have?

to ya'll with optima batteries - what alternators are you running, and what major electrical accessories (winch, lights, amp, etc...) do ya'll have?

my battery is about dead i think (and the damn thing wont stop corroding) so i might just get an optima... will an optima battery corrode?

thanks!
