I need shocks

I just did the SPOA with Breeze 4.5 perches. Now I need some shocks. I'm going to be adding 2 in. shackles for a little more clearance and possibly RROs rear springs up front kit. I'm currently only running 29s and don't plan on going higher than than 31s.

My problem is I need new shocks. I'll be adding the appropriate shock mounts for the lift. So, what would be a good brand of shocks to go with and what length. I don't necessarily need anything high tech nor high dollar. Just something to give better articulation and not empty my pockets.

AARRRRRRRG! 1987 Red JX 'vert, 4.5 BREEZE SPOA, SJ410 T-case (next week), 29 Super Swampers... more to come.... AARRRRRRRG!

Re: I need shocks

I went with the menroe or minroe, whatever the cheapo gas ones. I welded a grade 8 bolt to the lower rear spring pads and left the upper mounts the same. I think 13.5" was my min compression maybe 14.5 tho.. Don't ferget to install the bumpstops..

got zook?

Re: I need shocks

i always use 1995 toyota t-100 4x4 rear shocks. they are $9.99 each at o'reilly's or auto zone. they are 15" compressed and almost 26" extended. thats almost 11" of travel fer 10 bucks! i usually set my shock mounts about 18 or 19 inches apart.
if you set your shocks up right, you won't need bumpstops. COOL!

Re: I need shocks

CAPN- these are a bit more pricey than what the others have suggested, but they are awesome shocks and no one that I know that has them has been disappointed. They are DOETSCH TECH SHOCKS, you can get them from TIM Tackett at Norhtcoast offroad.com the DT3000's are 33.95 ea..and the DT8000's Pre Runners aer 38.95 ea. Unless you got your SPOA from Tim then he gives a price break on a full set of shocks. Hope that helps.

I love the DT shocks.... but when are you guys going to learn, THERE IS NO FREE SHIPPING! We order from Summit regularly too, but not because we've been duped by some free shipping claim. The "packaging and handling" charges they bill you for more than cover shipping charges. WAKE UP!

Re: I need shocks

ANYHOW, the DT's are awesome... the 3000's are a bit softer than the 8000's like we have on our suzuki...For the money whether you get them from summit(with *FREE*shipping) or NCO they are worth every penny.
