Re: ford 2.8L v-6 in samurai

becuase it is about 5-6" shorter than a stock trany, but you could use the stock trany if you wanted to, have to move the tcase back though. by shorting it this way you can run a short jack shaft with 2 ujoints inbetween the trany and tcase, and only have to move the tcase back an inch. my brother has a longer trany in his v6 samurai, and his tcase is moved back farther than i would be confortable with.(it has a really short driveshaft).

i have some pictures of the swap, but i can't figure out how to post them.

Re: ford 2.8L v-6 in samurai

So what are the stats on this motor? Torque and HP at what rpms? I imagine since it is a V6 it tops out the best torque at 5000 rpms or so? But at 1000 rpms what can it do?

Re: ford 2.8L v-6 in samurai

the 2.8 has around 115hp. the 2.9 and 4.0 could also be swaped in with a bit more work. 2.9 has 140hp.

What about torque? I don't care how fast I can go, I want to get up over those big rocks without having to gun it.
