anyone have info on this motor? please.

as everyone knows now, i'm looking for a little bigger motor than the 1.6 for my project. i have a neihbor that wants to sell me his 80 model chevy luv. the motor has 900 miles on rebuild and the tranny is fresh too for only $300 !!!! i know nothing about these motors and trannies. he sd it is an isuzu motor and it has an automatic metric tranny that lookslike a gm 200r4 to me. can anyone help with info on this combo??? hp rating, are they good motors, how cheap to mantain ? looks like i can fit it in there real easy so i'd like to use it if no dergotory info is found. ----thankx in advance.

i use to have one of those.....
the head is the problem, they go bad, warping and cracking on exhaust side and replacements are getting harder to find and if you do find one there pricey, but with the rebuild and low miles i think if you keep it cool it should be ok.
mine finally died at a little over 90 thousand

My Dad had a 80 chevy luv for almost tens years and never had a problem with it. It is an Isuzu motor. The truck was light and when I was a teenager I had no problem spinning the tires. It is a hell of a lot peppier that the 1.3

thanks guys i really appreciate it. i think i'll go fer it big time. if 1.3 to 1.6 is good, 1.3 to 1.8 has gotta be better + no dang computer. and auto trans sweeeeeeeet!
still, anyone know the hp #'s. gotta be more, but just curious? hoping it's around 95 to 100.

Re: anyone have info on this motor? please.

if anyone is interested, the isuzu luv motor puts out 80 hp. but the good part is that it puts out 100 ft lbs. of torque. i figure i can tinker with the carb, ign, exhaust and get 95 to 100 hp when i'm done.

87 sammy project in the works. getting chevy luv motor/ato tranny this week. lots o mods coming soon. i'll pst pics on em.
