Re: jeepn

OK, he doesn't have a T-90 like I thought, he has a T-14 and D20. He took it out of his '67 CJ-5 (81" Wheelbase), and it came behind a V-6 (225 Buick), so it'll handle power and is short. You can look up the tranny at http://www.jeeptech.com/convtrans/, but it is a 3 speed with a very slightly lower first. His tranny has a problem with one of the gears, but he has a spare tranny as well that has a good one. He swapped to a lower geared tranny last winter. The D20 also has the J-truck pattern as it came from a Commando and not a CJ. The J-truck shift pattern is basically just a U shifting pattern and not the straight up and back one the CJ's used. Yes, it can be twin sticked. He said to make him an offer, or he'll trade me some parts and you and I can dicker/swap/exchange $$$/whatever. He is really hurting after he swapped me a short shaft D300 and didn't know what it really was, so now he wants it back.

Re: jeepn

He has two trannies, one that came from his jeep, and the other that came from a J-truck. So one has the short input shaft that mates to a V-6 engine and one has a long input shaft that mates to an I-6 engine. He was using the tranny right up until I found him the T-18, so there isn't a lot wrong with it, and he said the other tranny is fine.

I dunno what to trade, not a ton of stuff I need, but I hear you have a multitude of vehicles down there. Maybe I'll send a list to choose from?

Max is going to be pretty heavily laden with stuff for the trip out, but said he could take the tranny down there, and the tires (he forgot about the tires though). I don't want to burden him further with any large items on the return trip, but I'm confident we can come up with something to trade. I know how tight money can get.

Re: jeepn

I spoke with him again and I don't think it'll pan out. He wants Gold for it (basically), to the tune of my 1980 Jeep D300 (short shaft, stronger and only made one year) and "something else", which will be a high dollar item. All that for a broken T-14 with a Buick bellhousing? I could do a lot better to sell the D300 outright and buy a whole jeep with that in it.

Sorry about that, but Max is also pretty freighted and having a hard time figuring out how to get to the Melt.

Have you posted that to the Jeep BBS? I'll bet someone in your area might have one, they were common.
