compression test ??

On my 92' I have compression readings per cylinder:
40
154
155
154
Is there a way to test if its the valve or ring(s) before i tear into it?

Re: compression test ??

squirt oil in the cylinder-it pressure goes up suspect the
rings-if it stays pretty much the same suspect valves-don't
rule out a head gasket tho but usualy they go bad between
two cylinders causing 2 low readings--oldzuki
