Grand Vitara XL-7 remote oil filter?

Changing the oil filter on my V6 in the XL-7 is a real messy job. The oil filter is very close to the exhaust manifold and can only be reached from underneath the vehicle. In order to get to the filter I have to snake my hand and arm around the crossmember, all the while being careful not to get burned by the exhaust manifold. When I remove the oil filter, oil leaks from the filter area on to the crossmember and it becomes a real mess. I was considering installing a remote oil filter kit and was wondering if anybody else has done this? Thanks.

Re: Grand Vitara XL-7 remote oil filter?

I'm running remote filters on both my Sami's. I'm sure, if space permits that it can be done. I have Amsoil units that use a standard filter as well as a by-pass filter. The Amsoil unit is probably the most expensive unit out there, but I feel it is worth the cost as it is very effective in keeping the motors clean. By clean, I mean immaculate. My 91 has 170+K miles on it and only changed the oil 12 times. Under the valve cover, it looks brand new. I think it is money well spent. Hope this helps....
