High beam indicator snafu ??

I've just discovered that when the interrior light is turned on, the high beam indicator light comes on. Nice huh? When the high beams are turned on the indicator light doesn not light while the interrior lite is switched on. In both cases, the interrior light doesn not light up. Is this another ground problem? I just swaped in a 410 grill. Could I have disturbed a ground in doing so? Any ideas? Thanks......

Re: High beam indicator snafu ??

Head lights and interrior are not even in same circuit it would appear you have crossed wires some where...

Try your horn what happens?

Interrior light circuit +12 white wire powers int.light
clock, door buzzer and does loop up to grill area to horn
retuns as blue/green steer column horn switch.

I never thought of the horn. Hmmmmmm. I know I did not remove the paint from the grill where it mounts to. I'll check that out today. Other than that, all I did regarding wires was to unplug one one headlight. Thanks.....

I'm with John. The high beam indicator goes on when your horn fuse is burned.

Re: High beam indicator snafu ??

my high beam indicator has never worked... neither has my interior light or door buzzer (except once in a blue moon... when i took my doors off one day my car just started buzzing and it took me 15 minutes to figure out it was the door buzzer because it had never done it before)... is all this related?

Re: High beam indicator snafu ??

Bingo! The horn/dome light fuse was toasted. I must have crossed the wires when I was swapping grills. Wonder why the high beam indicator comes on when the fuse goes? Man, I just love a simple fix. All is well now till the next project.....
Thanks for the help guys!

Pretty cool huh? Killed 2 birds with one stone. Or shall I be politically correct by saying "Dispatched 2 birds with one stone".

Re: High beam indicator snafu ??

I have a similar issue going on with my Zuk and have been unable to find time to trace it. Some of the content of this thread gives me some great time-saving suggestions, though. This board is such a fantastic source of info.

Everything worked normally in my Zuk (88.5 hdtp) until I did a slew of things in a couple weekends, so it is hard to trace when it went wrong. Looking at a schematic, I can see the affected areas all seem to be on the same circuit, but where the problem is, I don't know.

My hi-beam indicator comes on when I open my drivers side door. It doesn't come on when I put on the hi-beams, thogh I know it did at one point.

My interior light does not come on at all, though it did at one point. The bulb is OK.

The horn makes a sad, bleating noise now, inaudible from outside the truck. This used to work, too.

All these things seemed to happen around the time I blew a headlight, around when I also did this stuff:

put in a stereo, including new speakers in the stock front kick panel locations (yanking on wires under dash and in kick panel)

put in a tachometer, also yanking wires under dash.

I guess I have to check the fuses first. I know the hi beam indicator does NOT go on when the door is open if I push the door open switch out of its hole (the body of the switch grounds on the hole opening). However the horn does not begin to work with the switch out of place. I think this is a bad ground someplace in that circuit that deals with the door switch, hi beam indicator and horn. My electrical knowledge is too old and fuzzy to puzzle it out with the schematic, but maybe I can find it now with some of this extra info. Anyone happen to have working knowledge of the electrical system enough to pin it for me?

~thanks
