Air blower......what??!!

I was discussing to one of my relatives about me cutting my cat conv. off and he told me to go ahead and take this air something off that went with the cat to make good emmitions(which I am proud to say that I am in FL. not in california so there is no emmisions!), anyway he said it would give me more horses!

Thanx

Re: Air blower......what??!!

If you remove the Air injection pump it will free up some static HP so yes it will give you a HP or two.

Re: Air blower......what??!!

But he was saying something about it having to do with the emmisions((just to make sure we were on the same track!).

P.S. so where is this located??!!! I found what it looks like it would be but it is on the oposite side of the alternator and has a couple of hoses connected to it one to the radiator and the other somewhere on the engine?

Thanx

Re: Air blower......what??!!

The air-injection pump adds oxygen to the cat to allow it to help combust the unburned fuel in the exhaust so it is part of the emmisions but if you don't want to remove it entirely just undo the belt and bypass it with a shorter belt. I don't know where it is located on the zuke but I have removed several "non-functioning" ones off my other vechicles and it wasn't to hard. HTH
