Re: will 235/70 tires fit

I ran P235/75's on the stock rims on my stock 88.5.

I had no rubbing anywhere, on or off-road.

I have heard other people say that their 235's rubbed but mine didn't. All tires are not created equal. So if the 235's your getting are on the big side, then you can always do some trimming inside the fender and front bumper. You can also install longer shackles and that will help a little too.

Good luck

I ran 235 Yokohama Super Diggers on mine. Take a Sawzall to the corners of the bumpers, saw them off at a 45 degree angle and you won't have to worry about rubbage!

Re: will 235/70 tires fit

I had 235's on my 88.5, but had the 1" longer Breeze shackles on it. When I bought the '90 the other day, I switched the wheels/tires to it, and I couldn't even back it out of the garage. Added longer shackles to it, and they don't rub at all. Incidently, I also added a tube bumper to it, so there was no trimming needed there. Now I've got to buy another set of tires for the 88.5. Will probably go back to 235's on it again.

another thing you will want to do along with trimming the bumper is pounding the bead inside the wheel well flat. when you take off the tires look up underneath and you will see it. if you take a good hammer you can beat it flat pretty easily that way if you do stuff the tires into the wheel well it won't slice your tires up.
