Auto Locking Hubs?

Are OEM Samurai Auto Locking Hubs any good? Do they last? Thanks:

Re: Auto Locking Hubs?

From what I here they break faster than $*it cause they are not strong at all and the price is out-rageous for some MAGICAL HUBS!!

P.S. Just where did you find them I have not seen them in a while??

Thanx

Re: Auto Locking Hubs?

I had some on my first Sami and NEVER had any problems. I guess like anything else, it all depends on how you take care of it. Of course, my first Sami was over ten years ago and I didn't wheel it too hard. I kinda liked them because I was too lazy to get out and turn the hubs...

Re: Auto Locking Hubs?

If you dont want to get otu and lock the hubs, yet still want a very stong hub (stronger than locking hubs) get full time hubs. They came stock on my 87 and 83, fine off-road but not good for highway and street driving.

Re: Auto Locking Hubs?

I have auto locking hubs from a sammi and a tracker. I have often thought i would like to try them to see what it was like, but i have heard that if you go in reverse at all then they unlock. This was from a person who owns a trooper, so we agreed that it is untested on a sammi, and they are not obviously the same rig. I still think it would be neat to put on Heidi's rig and see how it works, but if its dangerous then i wouldnt do it. Does anyone know anymore about this? Geoff? Wakefeild? Bueller?

Re: Auto Locking Hubs?

Can you tell me if you have power steering and what size tires, are you locked in the front? Thanks for sharing. I just might give them a shot for fun. Max
