Re: ppillard - supplies for diff breathers?

Thanks! It was a super-easy mod, and I think it'll save me a lot of headache.
Yeah, I used 1/2" inner diameter hose. I bought 20' of it, and that wasn't
enough. I have yet to truly finish the job, as you also need tubes coming from
the t-case and the tranny. I would recommend buying a t-connector and using it
to tap the t-case hose into the line coming from the rear diff. That way you don't
need as much hose and you won't double the amount of hose you have running under
your zook that can snag on something. Zip ties are a must. The breather for the
tranny is right in front of the shifter under the boot. You actually have to drill
and tap a 1/8"hole in it to attach a 90* elbow. If you're not gonna install
a snorkel (which I highly recommend), then you can likely get away with not messin'
around with the trannny. I believe someone recommended that I use some better
hose that is protected from UV, but of all the stuff I had to choose from, this
was the only stuff that was flexible enough for the job. Maybe they just didn't
sell the right stuff at the hardware store I was at. Any comments on this, anyone?
If you're not going to install a snorkel (did I mention I highly recommend one?),
then I would recommend running your hoses right into the air breather. I like
the idae of keeping the "lungs" of the vehicle centralized, that way
you can minimize trouble-shooting in the future. Here's
a great site for waterproofin' your ride. Hope this helps! Lemme know if
you have any more questions!
