Why Not???!!!!

If gearing down allows us to use bigger tires then why hasn't anyone geared real low and ran 38+ tyres??? yoters do 44's with 7.17's or lower in the axles and I dont know how they run??? I know you would have to run different axles and such but WHY NOT!??!!

Thanx

Re: Why Not???!!!!

A few reasons.. I figgure once you go over 33's you start having big problems with breakage.. If you have the power. Stock axles wont be able to handle 38's, you would neeed LOTS of lift, etc.. so youll end up doing lots and lots of modifications, .. plus the cops wont like it

Re: Why Not???!!!!

All things are possible . . . not all things are legal (or safe). And you have to consider, it costs a lot to do all that is necessary to make that setup work properly. Once you start building up, the weak links show up quickly. And if you build up excessively, they show up lots quicker! Face it, a Sami is not a big rig, so when you go larger than 33's, you've got to do some major mods from bumper to bumper.

Re: Why Not???!!!!

I use Macromedia's Dreamweaver. I make my post in it, then I copy-n-paste the HTML code into the post window. Yeah, I cheat, but it works. I don't run either of those chats. I do use Yahoo's Messenger, tho...

Re: Why Not???!!!!

I was amazed at how small Samurai axles were when I saw one! VW bettles have thicker axles! I could see how 33's and a little torque over a short time could easily break them.

Re: Why Not???!!!!

Think about this
yoter axles(auto. SPOA)
3" springs
3" body
2" shackle/ shackle reversal
5.89 r&p's
4.16 gears
taller 5th
This would be the kind of set-up I would save up for!!

P.S. Even with proper gearing it would still be slow huh?
