what does the vent tube do exactly.

i bought one and installed it a while back. It was the most noticeable performance increase, and for only 9.50. I dont get how that little thing could fix so much. I was in the junk yard a while back and noticed all the sprints and other zook engines in there had a factory installed vent tube in there carbs.

87 silver sami,30x9.50's, no lift yet, accel 8mm wires, $10 intake, $20 exhaust. :-)

Re: what does the vent tube do exactly.

I Think! that the venturi effect of the incoming air on the stock setup causes a negative pressure over the vent opening. This will change how the main jet draws fuel from the fuel bowl. The little tube gets away from the negative pressure area and more into the ambient air pressure. Made a major difference in my engine too.

Just a guess.

Re: what does the vent tube do exactly.

This came from a guy selling them on ebay. Hope it's right but it does make sense. Jim
The extension places the mouth of the vent more effectively in the carburetor "airstream",superior venting is achieved, and hesitation is thus reduced/eliminated.

Re: what does the vent tube do exactly.

the vent tube makes a big differance in any hesitation you might have btween 2500 and 4000 rpm. we installed it in a friends zuk and it was like night and day differance. i am ordering one through NCO for my new engine and i haven't even driven my zuk yet since the rebuild. where can ya go wrong though. his zuk seems to have about twice the power. he said it was about 90% better now than b4 and it took a whole 1 minute to install!

build it, break it, then build it better.

Re: what does the vent tube do exactly.

What you might be seeing is Samurai carb's that have had the vent tube installed by the the dealership. There was a service bulletin out to cover this.

This carb never had one. I ordered it from Petroworks and installed it myself. Really made a difference.
