Front end rebuilding questions....

My Zuk is an '87 with about 110k miles, and I want to get my locker installed in the front sometime soon. Problem is, I'm worried about needing to replace bearings and stuff while I'm in there. I have new felt and inner axle seals, but am unsure of which bearings might need replacing. Nothing is making any noise, growling, grinding, etc., but I don't want to take any chances, parts might not be in stock.Long story short, which bearings do you think would most likely need to be replaced? BTW, I replaced the back bearings when I put the rear locker in, they were shot. Thanks in advance.

Re: Front end rebuilding questions....

You'll defintinely need to replace the upper kingpin bearings at a minimum. I'd replace the the bottoms while you're at it too. Have some axle seals handy too. If the grease in the knuckle stinks like gear oil you'll need to replace the seal.

Re: Front end rebuilding questions....

I'd seriously consider replacing them all = knuckle bearings & wheel bearings.

I can't help you with your bearings, but I can comment that that's one good lookin' zook you got there. You need some trail damage on it, tho! I don't think I've seen such an unblemished '87!

Pretty sweet pic, eh? I bet consumer reports is sending a letter to my life insurance people right now. I sold the Pinto, tho, all told a $1250 profit (long story). The Pinto will be missed, rode nice (compared to the Samurai).

Re: Front end rebuilding questions....

I just rebuilt my front-end. I bought the kit from trail-tough. He had the best price I could find and the kit was sweet. Had everything in the kit that I needed.

Re: Front end rebuilding questions....

Better to buy it all in a kit - just give the Suzuki venders a call.
