Body mount replacement advice?

I am doing a body swap (PITB) and am wondering if there are any tricks, home remidies, advice for the rubber body mounts. I need to replace mine and thought I would ask first. I did a search an got nothing out of it. If there are not any bits of wisdom where can I get a stock set the cheapest? Thinking of doing a small lift as it would be very little extra work. I will be going 5.5" SPOA and running 31's so not a large body lift.

Don't force it, just get a bigger hammer.

Re: Body mount replacement advice?

No help here on advice. I've been toying with the idea of doing a 1 in. bodylift to help with cleaning the undercarriage.

With the 5.5 SPOA and 31s you really don't need any extra lift. If rubbing is a concern during full flex then you should massage your wheel wells. You might be happier in the long run....

Just my 2 cents

Re: Body mount replacement advice?

i just put the body back on my rig. Make sure when you take you old body off to keep the stock body mounts. Half of the mounts on the frame are not flat, they are like a big dimple, so you need the old ones to put in the dimple then put whatever you want to use to lift the body with.

The guy who previously owned my sammy used hockey pucks. There isn't anything wrong with them, except that some garages will not pass the vehicle when they see pucks.

What i used was a piece of rubber that a buddy of mine gave me, which came off a bushing in a huge Rock Crusher in there rock quary. It would be hard to find this else where, but the stuff is great, good and soft yet not extreemly soft... I wouldn't use peices of metal though!!!

Re: Body mount replacement advice?

i could be wrong but i think calmini offers a polyurethane bushing replacement????? if you use 1"square tubing and flip your rubber mounts you get a 2" lift. or just flip em and get a 1" lift.

build it, break it, then build it better.

Re: Body mount replacement advice?

I made up some 1 inch tall aluminun spacers that I used in place of the rubber body pucks.
Gives me about 1/2" of lift. Cost about $10 at local welding shop.

Re: Body mount replacement advice?

Someone in a previous post stated they went to the local boat shop and bought one the rubber rollers used on a boat trailer. Cut it in 2 1/2" sections for thier body lift. Sounds pretty cool.
