ITS ALIVE!!!!

hot damn!!
i disconnected the ECM and my baby fired right up... it wont idle (i suspect its all the emissions control junk that the ECM controls), but thats ok for right now...

problem is is that it blew the main fuse (in place of the fusible link) once already... im thinking this is due to a faulty alternator... anyone else have any experience in this?

any help is appreciated

thanks

Re: ITS ALIVE!!!!

Hoo..rah! way to go Steve now that you are expert on Sam
electrical system. If need help I know who ask.
Circuit that you trouble shooted is most important and
complex circuit on a Sam. Alternator fried your ECM.
Had ECM apart few days ago it has very basic electronics
composed of small microprocessor and power transistors for
outputs most of inputs to MPU were protected by 3 cent
5 volt zeners. You right about idle ECM controls it.

Re: ITS ALIVE!!!! - friggin alternator

i just got the alternator checked out, and it was toast... its ridiculous that a brand new alternator is bad, and on top of that, that a brand new alternator can cause you to spend tons of money fixing the problems that it causes... oh well, at least ill have it running soon

thanks to anyone that helped out, especially kando and robzuk

thanks again guys
