jacking the samy

Hi finally I will start my spoa tomorrow morning.
I have the brake lines the spacers and the spring perches.

The only problem I forsee is how will I lift the samy high enough to remove and reinstall the axles and tires. I have this friend that has got am Hi-lift jack but there is no place to use it in my samy.

Any ideas ????

I have tought about it like that, but how do you slide it back in ?? there won't be room for the axle with tires under the springs...

Re: jacking the samy

remove the tires from the axles man. makes working a lot easier. much more room. when i did my spoa, i put my jack stands under the frame at the solid mount for the springs. plenty safe. when it came time to position the pinions(note, axles were loosely bolted in), i jacked it up, put my jack stands under the axles so it had the full weight of the truck on the axles. set the angles and finished up, now its high enough to put tires n wheels back on

Re: jacking the samy

Thanks things do look much easier now. Let's see how they come up.

another question

I have the RRO wrap around perches that will be welded directly to the old perches. So is it necessary to take the oil out of the axles ?? I don't have to set the angles ? Do I ?? (note I have got 2" longer shackles at front and 1" longer at the rear)

Re: jacking the samy

You won't have to drain your diff to weld the perches. I think the RRO perches are designed to retain the stock castor, but I'm sure Glenn Wakefield would be glad to answer your questions specific to the perches directly if you email him.
