Gearing gripe...

It really annoys me that R&P gears are sold in sets. They are usually in the price range of 230 smackers (american smackers, not british). The annoying part is that the 'set' is for one axle only. I mean, if your dropping your ratio, you HAVE to buy two sets. By my line of thinkin', a set should include both axles, for the same 230 smackers. 460 smackers (plus shipping) is just too damn much to spend for that kind of reduction. Ok, I'm done griping. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Re: Gearing gripe...

Yeah, there high but look back a few years ago it would easily cost you 1000.00 to gear down both axles. Parts for Samurais are slowly going down. As demand increase the lower the price will go. Wonder which economic wise thought that up. Plus there are more vendor now than five years ago and compettion is driving down the price as well.

Re: Gearing gripe...

I do not think the price is that bad. Think about how limited of a market the Suzuki R&P's are produced for. Besides, I like the idea that they are sold separately. Imagine breaking a R&P and having to buy a pair to just replace one...

Re: Gearing gripe...

I finally got our yard stocked with trackers, so im selling the R/Ps for 150$ a set although the yard generally gets 300 for the axle, i made a deal that i handle the trackers and audi's cause thats my bag. I also got them down to 450$ for 1.8 liter engines and 600 for the 18 valve. Took me forever to do it, but i had to do something. I think i might get in touch with calmini and see if they need a supply of transfer cases and trannys from these trackers. Im lucky that i got myself in this position, or it wouldnt be feasable at all. I hear your complaints, i think prices are far to jacked, and remember the initial frustration at finding that a set is really only half the solution.

Re: Gearing gripe...

it can stiil be done on the cheap. it cost me 150 bucks to put 5.12s f&r in my zuk. could have done it for 100.00 but i went with a complete tracker rear end. so don't give up just start hitting the yards and you will be suprised. later mike

Re: Gearing gripe...

It bothers me that people say "pair of underwear," when they're really referring to one underwear! I think pair signifies that you can wear them on one side for a week then flip them around and wear them on the other side for the next week -resulting in two wears of one underwear- or a pair of wears...

just a thought

Pair of Pants. Can you buy just a pant?

Pair of Scissors. What can you do with a single scissor, except stab someone?
