Prepare your eyes for a sordid tale:
About a month ago I bought my 88 Zuk for $650. It had a knocking rod and a title. I've spent over $1000 on engine rebuilds and upgrades, still owe for the tires, not to mention the hours put into bedlining the interior, lifting the body, pulling and tearing the engine apart, etc, etc...So, yesterday I went to get the title placed in my name and my new personal plates. There I was told that the title I have is invalid, that the Zuk was sold to someone else by the man whose name is on my title. I have the dealer looking into fixing this now, but man am I pissed! I have waited and worked on this thing for a month and now all I had left was a few days of work and I was driving, now I'm in limbo until the mess is fixed. I happen o know the dealer does have two more zuks. MAybe I'll offer to trade this one for the other two, (one parts, one two wheel drive) and of course give him my old engine and old tranny!

Anyone ever dealt with this kind of crap?

If you've never been scared, you've never been wheelin'!

Re: un-freakin-believable

If you purchased the Samurai from a dealer, he may have misrepresented it and it could be fraud. You might use it as a bargaining chip.

Re: un-freakin-believable

Personally, I'd be more afraid of buying from an individual, especially if you don't know them, than from a dealer. You can get a dealer in lots of trouble if they are selling stuff with bad titles. I would make his life miserable until HE corrected the situation at HIS expense.

Re: un-freakin-believable

Hey R/T,
I heard of a Lady in Jacksonville Sueing a dealer for misrepresentation and getting a bundle. She made him wish that SHE never existed..LOL.

Just my two cents.

Re: un-freakin-believable

You need to go to the county courthouse and speak to the District Attorney and see if he will bring forward charges. This is against the law and technically the rightful (titled) owner could come to your house with the police and drive off with the Samurai and you would not have a leg to stand on. You need to take care of this situation as soon as possible and don't take no BS from the dealer. He could loose his license for this.
