rocker panel ?

Zuki gang,
I took off the plastic panels on the rocker below the door but how do I remove the bracket/frame that they attach to?
Thanks,
AndyB

Re: rocker panel ?

You can either drill out the spot welds, or grind them out.

I'd recommend griding them out as you can really make the rockers look clean when you're done. With a drill, you're likely to have a couple holes that might accidentally punch all the way thru.

Re: rocker panel ?

Pick up a good spot-weld drill bit. I recommend Snap-on personally, but Craftsman works well too. A spot weld drill bit will cut out the spot weld, but not the substrate metal (unless you drill too far)

First, use a punch and put a dimple in the center of each weld. Next, place the center pin of the spot-weld drill bit in the dimple. Start drilling, trying to stay as even and straight as possible. Usually, the flange will pop when the spot is cut thru. Do this for all the welds. When done, you'll have these little round spots that will need to be taken down with a grinder.

Just be careful not to drill right thru the rocker itself. Watch what your doing.
