Need Help Fast

I am working on my Zuk away from home (since moving out many moons ago I haven't yet acquired a place with a garage). So, I end up doing all of my work in my Dad's garage on weekend trips. Anyway, the matter at hand...
Just got a Calmini header. Checked with Calmini and Hawks about the clearance for a 1.6L and was told, "oh yeah it will work." However, I am in the process of installing and it looks as if the extra height of the 1.6L engine makes the header too short!!!!???? With the cat. all the way up against the frame, the center-line of the main exhaust is still too low. Anybody found this as well? Found a way around? I wasn't planning to get a shop involved.

William

I'll be back.

Re: Need Help Fast

I dunno if this will help, but at least it was quick.

It's a pick of the Calmini header on the 1.6. Not to clear, but it shows it somewhat. I dunno if that will help at all.

Re: Need Help Fast

Tim,

Did you install it without the assistance (extra bending, ect...) from a shop or were you able to install it by using some weld in joints that can be bought from AutoZone or the like? With the header bolted to the engine, the 90 degree bend in the header seems too high. Did you relocate the catalytic converter?

Re: Need Help Fast

GODZUK,

Took a second look after your post since yours bolted right up. It appears that what I thought was original exhaust, is not original. There is no angle on my converter. If it is angled up in the front, it might make it (probably will based on yours). Will start cutting in the morning. Thanks to all for the quick replies.

Re: Need Help Fast

Well i am running the same set up as you and What I ended up doing was junking the cat. (not needed) and then made my own custom pipe. I made the exhaust pipe comming off the header come down about 8-10 inches (makeing the pipe come down lower than stock) then putting a 45- 60 degree angle in it to level the pipe off.

Re: Need Help Fast

Hey Zukinator, it's your own fault that it doesn't fit. At least that's the answer you might expect to get from Calmini.

Re: Need Help Fast

And in this case, they would've been correct, wouldn't they have?

Sorry, I don't see the purpose in your post, except starting more crap. Let's get back to modifying, please.
