Alright! I\'m pissed!! Alt ques?

Ok went to move the Sam today and it made some wierd noise like bearings, shut it off then restarted and the 105 amp GM alt locked up. So I removed it and low and [email protected]! Its broke again!!!!! this makes # 2 in less than 500 miles in 6 months. Whats up with this!! anyone else have this problem??
After the first one I did check for mounting point alignment and found no problems, It's on my 1.6 with V belt conversion, The crank pully is fine, does not wobble and is centered with the crank. It looks like the alt gets twisted and breaks the lower pivot mount and case in half! About ready to trash it and fab up a dual suzuki alt bracket. It was not overtightened and I don't know what to do about this. Any help???

Re: Alright! I\'m pissed!! Alt ques?

i always wondered why people run gm alt. on sammi's- gm's
break down more than any other alt made that i know of. new
or rebuilt. run 100/120 mitisubi alt off chrysler products
direct bolt-up no problems!! or go to a ford ext. reg &
run a welder-plan on changing pulley on chryler products if
donar was a serpentine belt--oldzuki

oldzuki, I know a bunch of people who run the Gm Alt, including myself, and it always seems to work much better than the suzuki ones. Suzuki ones are always dieing for no reason.. really annoying.

trailwalker-doesn't look like you got to go to disney either
just finished my rebuilt today 1.3 30 over flat-tops from
hawk suzuki still running my isky cam and 32/36 weber runs
great. but to you alt question i have a friend that owns
two wrecking yards in nwa ark. he is in rogers he pulls &
tests alts off new arrivals- i take old alt or bracket and
match up i have used washers as spacers but other than
changing pulleys or welding bolt to washers or adding
spacers i run as is. i am running a mitsubshi alt off a
dodge challenger its 100 amp for two years--oldzuki

Hey OldZuki,

You wouldn't have a photo of two that you could post of the
Mitsu alternator setup do you? And what year, make, model do
you get the Mitsu alt from?
I'd like to see it.
Thanks Wayne
