I want to put a tach in my zuk. Which one have people had good luck with.

I have heard the wire id already behind the dash. Is that true for all models?

Re: Good Tach\"s ?

I was just running an AutoZone tach that cost $30, then I swapped in a JX cluster and I love it. It was fairly easy install and it lights up much better than my old gauges. Yes they all have the wiring set up already. My zuk also lost 30,000 miles

Re: Good Tach\"s ?

One of the first mods i did to my 87 Samurai JA, is put a JX dash in. Just the instrument cluster. All the wiring is there, just bolt it in, tach works, everything works. I like the stock tach more than an aftermarket one. When you remove your old dash youll notice the little 4way tab hits the dash when you try and remove it. Push down on the steering wheel with your knee and itll come out.

Re: Good Tach\"s ?

I think the benifit of having a stock tack is that your utilizing the space already there. Its bigger then most aftermarket tacks and easy to read. Plus you do not have to wire anything in, which is nice. Does anyone know if the 88+ tachs fit pre 88? Just wondering.

Re: Good Tach\"s ?

Yeah as Anton said I'm looking for a JX dash for mine too. We don't have to many samurai out here in West Texas so used parts are hard to find. If you don't get a bite on the the Tach/dash I'm interested send me a e-mail off the board and we'll work out the details.

Re: Good Tach\"s ?

I use this Sun Mini. Mounted it on the left corner of the dash on one of the tabs that covers the dash removal screws. I only paid about $30 for mine. Jim

Re: Good Tach\"s ?

To install really easily is to look under the dash and loosen up the two large torx screws on the steering column bracket and the whole thing drops down enough to pull the old tac out and put the new tac in. The 88 and down JX tacs fit 87,87, and 88, the 88.5 and up fit the rest. Its a straight swap, no special wiring needed, just a tac and the face trim.
