Tire rubbing question.

I just got a set of 33/12.50/R16 wildcats for free already on 8 bolt tires. I want to get another set of tires for them so I can put them on my samurai. What i need to know is how much backspacing will i need to keep those wide tires off of my springs. Or is the wheel spacers necessary?
Also, I have 2 inch(actual) lift springs and am going to spring it over next week, will that be enough lift for the 33s? Thanks a ton.

Re: Tire rubbing question.

That lift, with the spring-over, should fit the 33's just fine. A 2.75" backspacing is recommended, but with a spoa, you can use up to 3.5". Wheel spacers will add extra wear on your bearings, so use them only if you really need to. I'd add them only after the rest of the suspension set-up is done to see if you really will need them. Every truck is a bit different and the way the mods are done can make a difference in what you actually need or can get away without. Good luck.

Re: Tire rubbing question.

I agree with Scott on the recomendation of 2.75 backspacing. I do believe that with 3.5 backspacing the will be some interference between the tires and the leaf springs at full lock.
