Re: question

The steering box doesn't have to be greased as regular maintenance. If you're going to repack the birfields you need check your steering knuckle grease seals and felts before you start. If you're losing grease there I'd replace them at the same time. You'll need to take the front hubs, wheel bearings, and the spindle off to repack the birfields. That's a good time to check the upper and lower kingpin bearings as well since you're already there. The upper one is usually the first to wear out.

Re: question

to repack the birfeilds, the easiest way is to remove the caliper (2, 17mm bolts) then remove the disc, then remove the 4m 14mm bolts holding everything onto the steering knuckle, now you can pull it all out, pack it with grease, and install. Otherwise you could remove the hub, the 2 big nuts, spindle, then pull the axle out.
