Re: Exhaust header or manifold

There are several choices in headers and the prices vary considerably. Pacesetter, Hedman, Calmini, and Thorley. If being smog legal is an issue, then the Thorley($195) is it as it has a CARB # and is the only one that is smog legal. I have the Thorley header on both my zooks and I'm really pleased with them. They made a big difference in performance. They will also fit if your friend decides to go to a 1.6, keeping in mind that some of the others won't without some work. Either way, you are looking at a new exhaust system or at least some mods to the present one. Go to a 2" system, free flow cat, turbo type muffler ( or whatever your heart desires) and enjoy the ride. Hope this helps...

Re: Exhaust header or manifold

good info,

Smog legal isnt an issue here, so are the others any cheaper?
we were hoping for under $100.

if not morethan likely well be looking for a used stock manifold, or Ill get the brazing rod out.

he does plan to go 1600 someday, but I think thats a ways off.
and your the second person to tell me the thorley is the cream.

Re: Exhaust header or manifold

Is a carbureted exhaust manifold the same as the TBI?? If so, I probably have a good used one or you could try Hawk Suzuki.

Re: Exhaust header or manifold

If you want to stay with the stock manifold, check ebay, there is one there for sale.

Hope this helps,
