Re: Need Advise !

Douglas, I don't think we're ignoring your post, it's just hard for me anyway to understand. I think the ring gear support case doesn't have any holes except where the cross pins go through. I've thought about just welding up the teeth on the spider gears to where they can't roll into the axle gears but that might not be strong enough. If you open up the support case and welded the spider gears to the one axle gear that would still be in there, that would lock up the diff. You could fill the thing with alum. as long as the splines on the axle gears remained clean. Do a search on aluminum there are quite a few posts about it.

Re: Need Advise !

I did a search on the suzuki all bbs under "aluminum" and found a post that discribes exactly how to pour an aluminum locker.

Re: Need Advise !

I would think you weld the side gears to the carrier
and then weld the spiders to the sidegears and carrier too.
Just weld the whole frigging thing and let it cool for a few days.
That's what I plan on doing.

Re: Need Advise !

i just welded it through the banna shaped holes. i welded the side gear to the carrier and i put plenty of weld on it. but what ever you do don't weld the front end[ i did it now i have to pull it back apart because i can't steer for sh!t] take my word on it or ranger ricks ten point turns suck. i have been running a welded rear for a year of hard wheeling and it has held up but i would still say to go ahead and buy a locker. i am just such a tight wad that i welded mine. just make sure you weld the side of the spider gear to the carrier. later mike
