Strange phenomenon

The other day while working on my Zuks I pulled out the ignition key to the wrong Zuk. I noticed it fit so I turned it and much to my surprise it worked. It wouldn't work in the doors or tailgate, so I thought the tumblers on the ignition switch must be worn down. I inserted the key from another Zuk I have and it would not turn it at all. Anybody else with multiple Zuks ever have that happen?

Re: Strange phenomenon

I've heard about this before. Seems the keys get worn down after time and they all start to look the same. It could make it pretty easy to steal one of your buddy's Zuks as a practical joke.

They could be like old VW campers, but I don't think so. If I recall their was like only 3 dozen or so different keys. One key opened all door 'cept the glovebox. It was fairly common to fins a key from one bus that worked in another, as common as 30:1 was.

Re: Strange phenomenon

The keys from my 69' GTO and 77' Monte Carlo would work in either car! My 87' and 92' Zuks dont.

Re: Strange phenomenon

87 chevy plow truck key fit my 79 caddy. but the caddy didn't work in the p/u. got me thinkin now. my dad just bought another zuk i wanted to buy. maybe my old keys will fit it. i was gonna play a joke on him in the middle of the night anyways. my zuk is strippped and gonna steal his hood or something for the night. maybe i could get away with driving it 5 blocks down his street to my buddies shop? hmmmmm

build it, break it, then build it better.

Re: Strange phenomenon

Not quite the same thing... But ..

I Knew a guy a few years ago who could start his truck with a Can Opener...

Basically it was the only thing lying around and it had a slight point to it, where you could jam it in the key-hole.
