Somebody hold my sign-OT

My sister is gettin ready to get her permit and i offered to teach her how to drive a stick. Looks like the sami is the teaching vehicle. The rearend has a lockrite in it so this should be interesting.

I have a T-Shirt that says "I am with Stupid". Should I send it to you or your sister?

Re: Somebody hold my sign-OT

take her out to a big field and put it low range that way she will have a hard time stalling it. we did this at a party at my house one day and taught 4 different kids how to drive a stick. it kept them nice and slow and was a easy to get the feel of it. later mike

Re: Somebody hold my sign-OT

Good idea about the low range. I tought all three of my kids to drive a stick. I always went out early on Sunday and found the largest parking lot available. While the little one was driving, dad had his hand on the parking brake. I never had to use it. My two oldest kids learned on the Pennington County Fair Grounds in South Dakota and my youngest learned on the campus of Indiana University. Lots of turns and space. There maybe a large industrial or educational parking lot near you.

Re: Somebody hold my sign-OT

I taught myself how to drive a stick. I jus got in the scout i had at the time and took off. It took a while to get out of the driveway and alot longer to get around the neigborhood but i learned. I like the idea about low range. My parents live 3 houses down from an elementary school so ill prolly take her down there. Unless she starts popping the clutch alot. I cant afford new tires, so she might be learning in mom and dads back yard. Oh ya, shes NEVER driven before. So this is kinda a 2 for 1 special. Learn how to drive and drive a stick all at the same time.

About the shirt, give it to her. I plan on wearing my helmet.

Ill let you know when i want my sign back.

Wish me luck
Will

Re: Somebody hold my sign-OT

Will, your post put an instant ear to ear grin on my face. I taught one of my daughters how to drive a stickshift with my Sam last summer. With my gearing it won't stall when you let out the clutch to fast but she will jump up and down quite a bit. I loved the looks on her face when the EZ locker "snapped" a couple times. As God is my witness I nearly wet myself laughing during the driving lesson. Thanks for reminding me. It's a fond memory.
