Just bought a Zuk and it\'s smoking

Hi all, I just picked up a 1988.5 Samurai and while the engine runs well it smokes pretty much all the time. I was told that the engine was rebuilt sometime in the recent past and it does have good compression across all cylinders so... What should I check next? Are their any maintennce bulletins or recalls for the 1988 Sammy's?

Thanks for your input...

Even though youve already bought the thing,I would check compression myself, not just takin someones word for it.The check is simple.Write again if you need help.

Yeah , do a compression & or leak down test.
Best case scenario would be that the piston rings haven't seated yet. Then all you gotta do is rag on it

Is the smoke clear, dark. What does it smell like?
