Transfer case shifter ? ? ?

Transfer case wouldn't shift (my first time with a Sami). So, I took the shifter out and something didn't seem right. I've posted two URL's to pic's of the shifter. The first pic shows how the shifter came out. The second pic shows what I think should be but, there is still something missing, I think?

Any ideas?

Re: Transfer case shifter ? ? ?

The second picture is correct, however, the ring at the bottom is only part of the plastic shifter sheet. The cup portion which the ball of the shifter rides on is missing, which is typical. Someone turned the spring over to hold the lever up enough to crudely shift the T-Case. You need to get a new shift sheet. This is an OEM part, and we keep them in stock. I am here this afternoon, call me or leave a message, and I will get back to you in time to get one out tomorrow morning if you so desire. 419-732-0060

Re: Transfer case shifter ? ? ?

Thanks for the come back. I've never driven this Sami, just towed it home with a bad engine. The engine is my current problem as the crankshaft is junk. I'm at a toss up about what to do about the crank. I can get a crankshaft kit here in Arizona or I have a lead on a used one in the east. After paying for the used crank and shipping and, maybe turning, it might not be worth it.

I noticed the problem with the transfer case while towing it home. Had a hard time getting it into neutral. I have a lot of experience with other 4X4's but, this is my first Sami. Looking forward to getting it running.

Again, thanks. And anymore advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Transfer case shifter ? ? ?

Thanks Dave, I've had a few e-mails with Dave King before the Holidays started. Seems like a real nice fellow.
I've got a long way to go with my Sami. I need to strip the inside out right down to the metal. Besides the motor
I might have to go through the tranny and transfer but, what the heck. Only paid $100 for a rolling basket case.
