Got another Samurai

I just bought my Fiance a 1987 Hardtop Samurai.....It has a Land Rover Crash Bar (Honestly - the guy who used to own it worked for an autobody shop - He cut it down to fit the front and welded it up) and the 1.3L motor looks brand new. I am just not so crazy about the paint job....It is black with splatters of different colors......super ghetto looking. It has been sitting for months and when it was dropped off - (towed to me).......it started right up (gotta love that Zuk engineering). I will post some pictures soon.........

Re: Got another Samurai

That sounds fantastic! Its funny, you have a convertable and your girl has a hardtop, and Heidi and I are opposite, I have a hardtop and she has the convertable. Really interested in seeing your hardtop when you post the pictures. Max

Re: Got another Samurai

Tim:

It doesn't have a Rover Roll Bar it has a Rover Crash Bar, cut down to fit a Zuk......The rig is just funny looking in genral, but the price was right and the engine looks brand new and it runs good.....I will post some pics this week. It could use some new shocks though......does anyone know of a cheap, good riding shock that will work well with 1.5" lift springs? (I was considering the Calmini shocks, but they are too expensive.)

Re: Got another Samurai

I was just DROOLING all over a forest green defender 110 with that front windshield and hood external roll cage. Its a beautiful rig. I cant wait to see a pic of your girls rig, I just posted one of Heidi's new rig with mark driving it over a bridge. Its not the pretty blue like the last one she sold but itll do. As for shocks, Glenn turned me onto these nice soft gabriel shocks that have 27 inches of articulation for 45 $ for all four! from auto zone. I love them and they work real well, much better then the doeschteks on heidi's but the guy who put those on bought the longest one available and he had to cross them in the rear to get them to fit so they are not working to great right now. The shocks cross reference to a dodge, and i can get you the part number if you need. Max

Max:

Will these shocks work with a 1.5" lift? I would like the model number if they will - it would be greatly appreciated....

thanks,

Re: Got another Samurai

looked for the reciept but to no avail, looked on my shocks and its a Red Ryder for a dodge and im guessing to say D100? I know its a full size pickup or dakota but the number at the bottom of the shock was 738000 so I hope that is the one. Just checked the sammi glove box and the house and basement and still cant find it. Probably because im looking for it, when I do ill get it to you if Glenn doesnt beat me. Max

Re: Got another Samurai

hey max that's good information. I am going to be putting shocks on mine soon, and you have provided some good information. Say what do you think of some rims with 4" of back spacing? They are damb cheep but that seems a bit deep.

thanks,
Reuben

Re: Got another Samurai

The shocks Max is refering too are I believe from a 72 dodge 2 wheeldrive truck, the rear ones.
If you do a search on this list for shocks all the info should be there.
