New or Rebuilt Master Cylinder ??

Has anyone had any experience with rebuilt master cylinders, or shall I go new? There is a significant difference in price ( to the tune of $100!). I'm hoping that once a working master cylinder is installed, my brake problems will be history for a good long time. Thanks.....

Re: New or Rebuilt Master Cylinder ??

Crow--I recently installed a rebuilt master cylinder on my 88.5. I bought it from NAPA for about $48 and the core charge was like $1.50. My brakes are like new, especially since I got all of the air out of the lines. I could look for the receipt and get the part number if you want it. When you replace the master cylinder be sure and put a little grease or something on the o-ring that slides into the power booster. I destroyed the o-ring the first time. Hope this helps.

I have used the autozone M/C theyhave a lifetime warrenty, 48.00 with tax. I have 2 of them one on mine and
one on the wifes. No real problems. (The first one I had for my truck leaked so they exchanged it no questions.)
