I need help w/ preload on diff.

Anyone know what the preload is for the sammys differetial? I have a '90. I just put in air lockers and it says to look in the book for manufacture preload, well my crappy haynes manual is almost worthless. I got the backlash set but i dont want to over, or undertighten the bearings. ...Thanks, Greg

Preload is the side to side 'play' of the carrier. You don't want any side to side movement. Snug it up and then move on to the backlash. I'm not aware of anyone who actually has a 'measurement' of the preload.

Thanks Glen, I did that but wasnt sure if I should tighten it more or not, I know when you set up a front wheel bearing you back of just a scosh so it can get warm and expand, I think this will work tho thanks again..Greg
