special edition?

I have an 87 Sami, I have had this rig for 2 years now. So far only mod is Honda seats. I am thinking about a SPOA and replacing the 113,000 mile 1.3 with a 1.6 . Anyway...my Sami has 'Special Edition' painted on both doors, and 'Special' nameplate on dash. Not sure what is so special about this particular model...anyone seen one of these before?

Re: special edition?

I believe the "Special Edition" was only sold in 1987. I've never seen one from any other years.

The Special Edition package was basically cosmetic, except for the split-folding rear seat. You got the Special Edition stripes and logos (including that nice "S" logo) and AFAIK they were only available as softtops in dark gray with the red stripes. Anything I missed?

By the way, if you still have the rear seat but don't need it, let me be the first to offer to buy it from you.

Re: special edition?

Is that split on the rear seat verticle and folding or just horizontal and folding?

Re: special edition?

The factory top on the special edition also had a "sunroof" that was tinted.

Re: special edition?

Was the sunroof in a hardtop or a ragtop?
