Bigger Tires Need Bumper Shaved?

I buddy of mine is going to install a set of 235/75/15's on his Sidekick. I was wondering if he needed to shave the bumpers back. I had to do it on my 88 Samurai but he is under the impression that he has more room in the wheel wells. What do you guys think?

235s will most likely not fit properly with any amount of trimming unless sme lift is added. A check lift is to get some taller shackles. Those 235s will shred on large city bumps or offroad though even if you do manage to somehow trim things enough to get them on without lift.

I put some 225/75's on 15x7 rims with standard backspacing on a 4 door Sidekick with no problems. I'm pretty sure you can't put a shackle lift on a Sidekick.

My boo boo. Can't do shackles on a Kick. Wasn't readin closely.

Its pretty much a rule of thumb that you're going to have to get at least 1.5" of lift on the Kick to properly clear those 235s though. Either that, or break out the sheet metal nibblers and get to work on that body!
