Trany rebuild

I need to rebuild my trany on my 86 and I found a kit at Assian parts for $104 It seamed to be the same kit that I saw else whar for more cash. Has any one on the board done the reabuild and is it hard? also should I put in the 88.5 fifth? or is it worth it? How much will my top speed go up. What is the top speed on an 88.5 my 86 goes about 65 on flat ground.

Re: Trany rebuild

Boy, I wish my 88.5 went 65MPH flat ground! I don't even use the 5th gear on my Zuk. The damn tires are too big and and put too much stress on the little engine! When it was stock I got it up to 80MPH, and that is with a good engine! About the rebuild, I've seen my friend do it and seemed easy.

80 mph! must've been down hill with a tail wind, just kidding. My 88.5 will run about 65mph with 31's(4th gear), but my '92 with stock tires will run a little better than 75mph(feels like 95mph!)Hey Brian, did you get the info about Uwharrie from J-Bird? Hope you can make it.

Re: Trany rebuild

Yes I got the info from him and I'm trying to get the weekend off from the Fire Dept. so that I can make it! Still not sure, it must be a military thing! I won't have my other Zuk done by then, should be next summer!
