Stupid question

I'm going to install my 1.6 8v next weekend.
Should I use RTV on intake and header gaskets.
The new intake gasket appears to be metal. Don't know what header gasket looks like, but I assume it's metal also.

Re: Stupid question

Maybe just a thin coating of it on the intake gasket, but the header
gasket probably needs nothing.

Re: Stupid question

NONONO!!!!! don't EVER use RTV on anything where gas will be present. It will swell up and do bad things to the motor. If you feel you need some kind of sealant then go with the type made for gas applications. NOT RTV.
Check the store there should be some avaition type sealant that will work. But really as long as you clean
the surface well you don't need sealant in these two places.
