Toy axles & 31\'s or 33\'s

I have an 87 zuk w stock transfer case & ring & pinion. I got a hold of some early 80 toy axles. Does any ine know if my gear rations will get taller
or shorter when I do the swap? should I change the R&P in the toy axles while I have them out? If so What ratio should I run? I plan to go to 33's & don't care if it's under geared while I still have the 31's temporarily. I do plan to install lockers while I have the axles out
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Toy axles & 31\'s or 33\'s

If i'm not mistaken they will be 4.10's in there. That's what I'm in the process of doing at the moment. Just making the rear perches this afternoon. If this is the case it will give you a 10% increase in your gearing. GRS1 is 12%..

Hope this helps

Danny,
I thought that you could use the stock perch? Is this true? Are you adding any lift? If not , do you know how much lift will be attained by the axle swap?
Thanks

Re: Toy axles & 31\'s or 33\'s

The front perches are close enough to make them fit. The rear end I'm using is a FJ-40 Toy diff that had perches under it. I made some new ones to fit on top. The butcher that cut the old ones off before I got it cut thru the tube in a few places. *SSH*LE!!!

Coming out of lurk mode, I haven't posted here in a long time. Just a FYI. You may want to double check that R&P ratio. It may be 3.7x:1. IIRC, that was the stock ratio on some of the early 80s yotas and the 4.10 was an option. Can't remember if it was FJ40 or 60 series though... The stock spring pad spacing on the yota axles are a little wider than stock sami fronts and alot wider than stock sami rear. The spring perch width is different too.
