check engine light

My friend has an 88 Samuri with the check engine light on. The mechanic that did his carb told him that the O2 sensor was bad. We replaced the sensor; How do we clear the code? The mechanic said he could clear the code for free, but if it came right back on from another problem he would have to charge him because it would turn into a diagnosis . I think it time for a new mechanic!

Re: check engine light

look up under the dash there is a slide switch by the
steering column with red-white-blue wires to it. with the
car on and check engine light on slide it the other way.
this is how you reset it.

Re: check engine light

If the O2 sensor was bad, a new one would have turned off the light, it comes on automatically every so many miles
