Calmini or Thorley header?

Does anybody prefer one header(Thorley or Calmini)over another on a 1.6L 8V Sami?

Thanks in advance,
Shawn

Thanks,
Shawn

Re: Calmini or Thorley header?

Here is a picture of a Buddy after his "Calmini" header about burned his Samurai up, after climbing a real long hill! But hey,,,he is real "Trigger Happy". He was pissed, just spent over a grand on a rebuilt engine, and the header about cooked it all. The heat from it set the wires on fire!

I have used both, and like them both.

Re: Calmini or Thorley header?

I don't have a preference, but I've been running a Calmini header since early '91 without any problems. I think you would be fine with either one. Also I have never had a problem with the gasket failing. Go ahead and get one, they do make a difference.

I prefer the coating of the Thorley (for rust preventative reasons)

Personnaly, I think that the thorley header is of much higher quality. Just my opinion.

Re: Calmini or Thorley header?

The Thorley is THE ONLY smog legal header in the U.S. If you live in emissions controlled areas, its the only header that makes sense to get. If they're working on legislation in your area to put in place emissions controls, it is the only header that makes sense. If there is a chance of you moving to an area that has emissions controls, it is the only header that makes sense.

All this, not to mention, its a much higher quality header using heavy guage flanges that don't heat warp, and tubing with a larger I.D. for a freer flowing exhaust and more power.
