wagoneer dana 44\'s

i just picked up a set of wagoneer dana 44's for my buddy's zook yesterday and i was going to see if any of you guys have any ideas. he will put the wagoneer dana44's (58" flange to flange) under a set of jeep wrangler leaf springs. i know the front springs will have to be moved outboard the frame but is there a wrong or right way. i personally have done this to two different jeeps with no problems but i am worried about the thin samuria frame. he is also thinking of adding 15 to 20 inches of wheel base by extending the frame in the rear and cutting out the back portion of the fender openings on the body. anyone done this?
