horay!!!!!

I got the rear fj55 axle in and my samurai rides totally different ,it isn't all over the road anymore and now with the 12 in's of lift,stock4:11 gears in the fj55 axle and 33's it will do about 65-70 mph as compare to 45-55mph top end.I just got my front axle out of an 84 toyota 4x4 for fifty buck it's missing a few part's like the tie rod, calipers, brake lines, and passenger side kingpin bearings. My advice for anyone thinking about doing this swap is do it!It's stronger ,wider (especially with 15X10's),and easy to do.

Re: horay!!!!!

I'm right behind ya on that. Rebuilding front Toy truck diff this week and bought a pair of FJ-40's tonight for $75 Canadian. Will be using the rear on the Zuk. Any one know if the Birfields of truck and FJ are interchangeble? Anyway will be doing it next week and will take pictures for the rest of ya!!!

Re: horay!!!!!

AFAIK, the two joints are not interchangable. We had a guy at our local event who broke a Birfield in his FJ. The problem was that he was actually running a Toyota pick-up fron axle and had to find a Birfield for a pick-up front instead of an FJ.
